Bail denied to poultry farm owner accused of facilitating Alprazolam manufacture | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A poultry farm owner accused of allowing his premises to be used for manufacturing Alprazolam and allegedly seeking a share of the proceeds has been denied bail by a Nampally court for the second time. EAGLE sleuths booked him under Section 27A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act..Anjaneyulu has been in prison since the last week of July. EAGLE sleuths had arrested Jaya Prakash Goud and Krishnaiah for allegedly manufacturing Alprazolam at a poultry farm owned by Anjaneyulu at Thatikonda village in Bhoothpur, Mahabubnagar district.According to EAGLE officials, Anjaneyulu knowingly leased the premises to Jaya Prakash and allegedly allowed him to carry out drug-manufacturing operations in return for a share of the profits.Jaya Prakash is a repeat offender, police told the court. He was earlier arrested in a high-profile case involving the alleged manufacture of Alprazolam on the premises of a private school in Bowenpally. After securing bail, he allegedly resumed the illegal trade by hiring Anjaneyulu’s poultry farm.Based on the alleged financial arrangement, police invoked Section 27A of the NDPS Act, which deals with financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders.Apart from the 1.150 kg of Alprazolam, a huge quantity of precursors required for manufacturing of Alprazolam from the poultry farm. The seized substances included around 5 kg of ammonium chloride, nearly 4 kg of potassium permanganate, 500 ml of triethyl orthoacetate, 5 kg of 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone, 40 kg of hydrogen peroxide powder, and 20 litres each of hydrochloric acid, ammonia, dimethylformamide, TT, chloroacetyl chloride, triethyl orthoacetate, acetone and sulphuric acid. Around 20 kg of hexamethylenetetramine was also recovered.Police identified Srikanth and a chemical laboratory in King Koti as alleged suppliers of the materials sourced by Jaya Prakash. While Srikanth remains absconding, both he and the laboratory have been named as accused in the case.Considering the gravity of the alleged offence, the court recently rejected Anjaneyulu’s bail plea for the second time.
