The team found that there seemed to be negligence on the part of the district administration, police and endowment departments in making proper arrangements.The Niranjan-led team enquired about the incident with the district collector and Superintendent of Police. The assistant endowment commissioner, Madan, informed that local organisers collected money by printing tickets on their own. There was a quarrel between the victims and organisers of the Jatara over the collection of the entry fee.According to a press release from the BC Commission’s office, the temple was registered with the Endowment Department, Wide No: B/1179/2018, in 2018, but due to resistance from locally dominant people, the endowment department officials were not taking interest in the arrangements for the Mallanna Jatara, the press release from the BC Commission stated.The district collector and Superintendent of Police informed them about the steps taken by the administration after the incident came to light. The Commission Chairman and members offered floral tributes at the site where the baby was buried.The Commission Chairman and members held a detailed discussion with the victims and heard about the background of the incident.The BC Commission Chairman directed the district collector, SP and endowments chief in the district to submit their respective reports on the incident within 3 days. Based on their reports and the Commission’s inquiry on the spot, the BC Commission will write to the govt for appropriate action, BC Commission Chairman Niranjan told TOI.BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said he spoke to the DGP and urged him to take stringent action against the guilty. “chief minister A Revanth Reddy said the state govt will stand by the victim’s family and will take all measures to ensure such incidents are not repeated,” Ponnam said.Ends MSID:: 128755315 413 |
