Hyderabad: Lucky draws for selection of beneficiaries for allotment of LIG flats in Indiramma Towers in the CURE area were conducted in four constituencies on Friday, with housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas participating in two of them.Eligible beneficiaries who receive flats in the Indiramma Towers will be provided with free registration. After registration, beneficiaries will be allowed to sell their homes after 10 years, depending on their needs.In the event of an emergency before that period, they can also pledge their registration documents with a bank to obtain a loan. Each beneficiary will get an undivided share of land ranging between 17 and 20 square yards. The construction of towers will start soon and is targeted to be completed in a year.“Lucky draws for Indiramma Towers flats were conducted on Friday in Nampally, Quthbullapur, Secunderabad and Rajendranagar assembly constituencies. In Rajendranagar, a small boy took out the lottery and luckily his own family got the LIG Indiramma flat,” said Ponguleti.Ponguleti personally participated in the lucky draw programmes held at Vet Gardens for flats to be constructed at Red Hills in Nampally constituency and at Laxmiguda for beneficiaries under the Mailardevpally area of Rajendranagar constituency.The minister said lucky draws would be conducted for nearly 8,000 flats across 16 assembly constituencies from Friday until Aug 31. The process will cover four constituencies each day.He explained that 600 beneficiaries would be selected through a lucky draw for 480 flats in each constituency. Following the draw, officials would conduct field-level verification of the selected beneficiaries. If any of the selected persons are found ineligible, eligible candidates from the remaining 120 selected applicants would be given an opportunity. The system, he said, is designed to ensure justice for genuinely eligible poor families.Ponguleti recalled that chief minister A Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Indiramma Towers project at KPHB Colony in Kukatpally on Aug 13.The govt is moving forward with a target of constructing one lakh houses in the first phase within the GHMC limits, he said. Land identification has already been completed in four more assembly constituencies, and applications for Indiramma houses in those constituencies will be accepted until Sept 3, he added.“The govt’s priority was not merely to accumulate money but the poor should have the opportunity to live with dignity even in areas where land is valued at Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore or even nearly Rs 300 crore per acre. Each beneficiary selected through the lucky draw will receive a house measuring approximately 525 square feet. Depending on the availability and requirement of the land identified by the government, Indiramma Towers of up to ten floors will be constructed, with lifts and other necessary infrastructure,” minister Ponguleti said.The minister said beneficiaries will also have an opportunity to personally monitor the construction of their homes.Minister Ponguleti said reservations are being implemented in every constituency with a focus on social justice. The allocation includes 14% for SCs, 5% for STs, 16% for BCs, 5% for persons with disabilities, and 10% each for sanitation workers, fourth-class employees and outsourcing employees. Overall, 50% of the flats are reserved under various categories, while women are being provided 30% reservation.
