Hyderabad: The city’s real estate sector is witnessing sustained demand, backed by infrastructure development and the city’s expanding business environment, said Sanjay Jaju, chief secretary, at the inauguration of the CREDAI Hyderabad Property Show 2026 on Friday.Jaju said Hyderabad and Telangana had emerged as preferred destinations for people looking to live, work and invest, with the city gaining growing international prominence.Recalling his earlier stint as Hyderabad municipal commissioner, Jaju said returning to the city after nearly 12 years was encouraging, as he had witnessed its significant transformation.He also announced that the Invest Telangana Global Summit would be held from Dec 7 to 9, saying property development would be an important component of the state’s economic growth. He urged the real estate industry to participate in the summit and support efforts to attract investments into Telangana.During a panel discussion, real estate representatives highlighted the city’s housing demand and infrastructure-led growth, while seeking govt intervention on pending regulatory issues.N Jaideep Reddy, president, CREDAI Hyderabad, said the industry’s engagement with the govt had been positive over the past year, but sought action on the 10% building-permit mortgage and its NALA-linked component.“The industry’s engagement with the govt has been positive over the past year, but we seek action on the 10% building-permit mortgage and its NALA-linked component,” Reddy said.He added that reducing the mortgage to 5% would help release capital for builders, while allowing NALA payments alongside the building approval process could make clearances more efficient.The panel noted that more than 26,100 homes were sold in Hyderabad in H1 CY26, with demand shifting towards larger homes and higher ticket sizes. Representatives said a significant share of the unsold inventory was still under construction, leaving scope for continued sales.
