5,725 candidates shortlisted in Kodad job mela: Uttam

Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday said thousands of young job seekers from rural areas converged on the town for the Mega Job Mela that was held in Kodad on Saturday, where around 350 companies attracted over 30,000 registrations and concluded with 5,725 candidates being shortlisted for various jobs.“By the close of the exercise, 5,725 candidates had been shortlisted. The mela’s outreach extended across Suryapet, Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir, Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts. Companies representing information technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, healthcare, banking, retail and other sectors offered candidates a common platform to explore employment opportunities,” he said.The mela got off to an encouraging start, with more than 700 youth securing jobs within the first two hours. Several successful candidates received offer letters from recruiters immediately after completing interviews and screening tests, Uttam said.Prominent employers included Foxconn, L&T, MIAL, Mahindra, Tata, Arvind, MSN, Metro, Google, IndiGo, Apollo, MedPlus and several emerging companies. L&T alone recruited 40 young men, offering an average monthly remuneration of about ₹21,000. Recruiters from other companies also conducted interviews throughout the day and shortlisted candidates for different technical and non-technical positions.Uttam said the response demonstrated both the aspirations and potential of Telangana’s rural youth. He said the Mega Job Mela was conceived to bridge the gap between qualified jobseekers and employers by bringing leading companies directly to the doorstep of youth.
