Elkathurthy: A decomposed body of a woman was found inside the boot of a car in Elkathurthy on Thursday night. Locals noticed a foul smell emanating from the vehicle and alerted the police. Inspector Puli Ramesh and his team rushed to the spot and, upon opening the car, found the body. The deceased was identified as Ankathi Manasa (33), a resident of Centenary Colony in Rathnapur village of Karimnagar district.Police identified the vehicle, bearing registration number ‘TS 03 FF 8094’, as belonging to T Sadanandam of Elkathurthy village. When contacted, Sadanandam, who was in Hyderabad, told police that he had given the car to his son, Surender. Surender had reportedly rented the vehicle to A Bhaskar Reddy, but it was being used by Bhaskar’s brother, A Vinod Kumar, a software employee.According to police, Vinod and Manasa were childhood classmates and friends. Their fathers had worked for Singareni Collieries in Godavarikhani, and the families were neighbours. Manasa was divorced and living with her parents in Karimnagar. After his father’s retirement, Vinod’s family moved to Elkathurthy village, while he had been staying in a rented room in Karimnagar for the past eight months.Police said Manasa and Vinod were in a relationship and met frequently at his rented room. Three days ago, they reportedly met in Karimnagar.During the investigation, Vinod allegedly told police that Manasa suffered a seizure in his room and died on the spot. Fearing the consequences, he allegedly transported her body in the car from Karimnagar to Elkathurthy and parked the vehicle in an isolated area before leaving the scene.Inspector Ramesh said Vinod was in police custody and being questioned. A case has been registered, and the body was shifted to MGM Hospital, Warangal, for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
