Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman died after allegedly developing complications following an injection administered by an RMP doctor in Karwan Vaddera Basti early Tuesday, prompting the Ranga Reddy district medical and health officer (DMHO) to order an inquiry into the incident.Ranga Reddy DMHO Swaroopa told TOI that an inquiry team would examine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. “We are sending an inquiry team and asking for an explanation. A show-cause notice has been issued to the hospital and an expert team will examine the case,” she added.The deceased, Srilatha, a daily wage labourer and wife of Thirupathi, had consulted Ashok, an RMP doctor in the locality, on Friday after developing fever. “According to her family, the doctor examined her and administered an injection in her lower back before sending her home,” the DMHO said.The following day, Srilatha developed swelling and severe pain in her legs. As her condition worsened, she returned to Ashok on Monday. He reportedly arranged an auto-rickshaw and took her to Joy Hospital in Attapur, where he paid a deposit of Rs 10,000.Sources said Srilatha’s condition deteriorated while she was undergoing treatment, and she died around 2 am on Tuesday. Her relatives staged a protest outside the hospital, alleging that the hospital doctors failed to provide timely treatment.Police have registered a case of alleged medical negligence at Attapur police station. Meanwhile, police said the RMP doctor is currently absconding.“The inquiry will examine the treatment provided by the RMP as well as the hospital,” an official said.
