Srinidhi Shetty on female characters in South Indian cinema
Srinidhi Shetty addressed whether actresses in South Indian films receive powerful roles during her 2025 interview. She acknowledged that female characters do not always get the same importance across films. According to the actor, their position often depends on how the narrative is structured and whose journey drives the story. She explained that films centred on male protagonists can leave other characters with limited narrative importance. However, she also pointed out that some movies allow women to take centre stage.Srinidhi said, “Not really, there have been movies where they’ve gotten really strong roles and there have been movies they haven’t. But understand, when you’re doing a movie with hero taking the centre stage, then at one point everybody else, all the artists, become accessories to the plot or maybe to the hero’s character. But there are also films in which the woman has taken the centre stage. So, it depends.”
Srinidhi Shetty responds to Rs 8 crore remuneration reports
Srinidhi recently addressed reports suggesting that she charges between Rs 7 crore and Rs 8 crore for a film. Speaking to NTv Telugu, the actor questioned the claims, pointing out that she has appeared in relatively few films so far. She dismissed the reported figure as speculation rather than an accurate account of her remuneration.“After the success of the ‘KGF’ films, they say that I am asking for Rs 7 to Rs 8 crore. I have acted in few films so far. When that is the case, how can I ask for such a huge amount as remuneration? So, it is just a rumour,” she said.
Why money is not her only consideration
The actor also clarified that financial gain does not determine her choice of projects. She explained that she would have taken on many more films if earning money had been her primary objective. Instead, she prefers to be selective about the stories and characters she takes on.“If earning money was my only goal, I could have acted in 30 to 40 films over the last few years. But I do not sign films just for money. I give priority to good stories and quality characters,” she said.
