‘Three claps’: CJP takes aim at BJP’s Gen Z push, questions Nitin Nabin, Smriti Irani’s inclusion | India News

NEW DELHI: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Sunday criticised the BJP’s newly announced Gen Z outreach programme, questioning the choice of leaders included in the team as the ruling party steps up its efforts to engage with the younger generation.CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das targeted BJP national president Nitin Nabin and national general secretary Smriti Irani, citing remarks and allegations surrounding their alleged public positions. In a post on X, Das said, “Wonderful decision by the BJP on ‘reaching out’ to the Gen Z.”“Three claps to the BJP for a marvellous set of ‘Gen Z faces’!” he added.Das specifically targeted BJP national president Nitin Nabin, referring to his alleged remarks describing the younger generation as “virus and cockroach” and protesters as part of the “tukde tukde gang”.He also criticised the inclusion of BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani in the outreach team, referring to her tenure as education minister and the handling of the Rohith Vemula case.“And Smriti Irani… well well… just Google why she was thrown out of the Education Ministry within two years, in 2016. Her handling of Rohith Vemula’s suicide case, her dismantling of public universities, her own questionable degree from ‘Yell University’ give her great moral authority to lecture us young people,” Das said. The remarks came a day after the BJP constituted a dedicated team for its Gen Z Outreach Programme, aimed at establishing greater engagement with young people across the country, according to ANI.BJP national president Nitin Nabin, national general secretaries Smriti Irani and Vinod Tawde, Gujarat minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chhattisgarh minister OP Choudhary are among those included in the team, ANI reported. The wider BJP organisational team also includes several newly appointed national general secretaries, including Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia. Union minister Piyush Goyal has also been given the additional charge of national treasurer, according to ANI.

The CJP’s criticism comes as it prepares for a national working committee meeting on Monday to review the Centre’s commitments following its decision to withdraw a nationwide agitation on July 25.The outfit has said it could consider another peaceful nationwide agitation if it believes the government’s assurances have not been fulfilled.Separately, police in Maharashtra’s Latur district on Saturday registered an FIR against CJP convenor Abhijeet Dipke and others for allegedly entering a government school without permission, disrupting official work and threatening teachers. The case was registered at Ausa police station following a complaint by a teacher, according to the complaint. Dipke has been visiting schools as part of the CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign.
