Hyderabad: Thousands of Ganesh idols were immersed across Telangana on Friday amid tight security, with police deploying personnel, drones, CCTV cameras, cranes, swimmers and rescue teams at major immersion points to manage crowds and prevent accidents. District administrations coordinated with the police, revenue, municipal, fire, medical and electricity departments, while barricading, lighting, traffic diversions and emergency arrangements were put in place at key immersion points.In Karimnagar, nearly 2,400 idols were immersed across the district, including around 1,000 within Karimnagar municipal limits. Police commissioner Gouse Alam said, “About 850 police personnel have been deployed for the immersion arrangements.” Manakondur, Kothapalli lake and the Chintakunta canal were equipped with cranes, swimmers and DRF boats, while crime teams and She Teams were deployed in crowded areas.In Adilabad, Basara Zone DIG R Bhaskaran inspected the Penuganga immersion point and directed officials to closely monitor crowd movement, traffic, electrical wires and vehicle movement. “CCTV and drone cameras should continuously monitor major locations, immersion routes and crowded areas,” he said. He also reviewed the command control centre.Bhaskaran later visited RIMS and expressed condolences to the families of five children who died in the recent incident. “The quick response and coordination helped in taking all possible measures to reduce the loss of life,” he said, appreciating the police and hospital staff for responding within minutes.In Jogulamba Gadwal, wine shops, bars and toddy shops in Gadwal, Aija, Waddepally and Alampur municipalities, as well as Erravalli, were closed from 6 am on Friday to 6 am on Saturday. SP T Srinivasa Rao said, “The decision was taken keeping in view the movement of people, security and maintenance of law and order.” He warned of legal action against violators. At Beechupally on the Krishna river, cranes, barricades, swimmers and emergency medical and fire arrangements were put in place. In Sangareddy, SP Paritosh Pankaj directed the police and other departments to remain alert until all immersions were completed.In Peddapalli, Ramagundam CP Amber Kishore Jha inspected the Godavarikhani immersion point and said, “Officials should remain alert and take preventive measures throughout the procession and immersion.” He also prohibited DJs that could disturb law and order and appealed to devotees to cooperate with the police. In Kamareddy, police used drones and CCTV to monitor processions, while Mahbubnagar police issued safety instructions covering water bodies, traffic and sound systems. In Dubbak, CP Rashmi Perumal inspected procession routes and the immersion site.
