JAMMU: A joint team of security forces discovered a terrorist hideout and seized a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in Mahore tehsil in J&K’s Reasi district on Thursday.Based on inputs from the local Army intelligence unit, a joint team of the Army’s 58 Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police’s Special Operations Group launched an anti-terror operation in the forested Khataji Ridge area. After intensive combing of the tough terrain, the search party busted a hideout, officials said.

The recovery included 140 AK-47 rounds, an AK magazine, 19 PIKA LMG (Light Machine Gun) rounds, 25 rounds of 9mm pistol, one pistol, a grenade, medicines and six cassettes.Multiple cordon-and-search operations have been carried out in the hilly districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Udhampur, and Reasi — all in Jammu division — recently, following inputs about the movement of terror suspects in the region’s higher reaches.
