Telangana’s new health scheme gets 15k treatment requests worth Rs 104cr | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS), launched recently by the Telangana govt for employees, pensioners and eligible family members, has received 15,395 treatment requests worth ₹104.6 crore. The scheme has 919 empanelled hospitals, including 778 private and 141 govt facilities. It was extended to police personnel from Sept 1.The scheme offers 1,816 inpatient treatment packages based on Central Govt Health Scheme (CGHS) rates. The packages cover treatment, medicines, diagnostic tests, consumables, implants and follow-up services. In emergencies, beneficiaries can approach the nearest empanelled hospital without prior referral, provided the required details are submitted to the trust within the stipulated time.Employees and pensioners contribute 1.5% of their basic pay or pension every month, with the govt making an equal contribution. The monthly fund stands at ₹88 crore, comprising ₹44 crore each from beneficiaries and the government. The annual budget is estimated at ₹1,056 crore.As of Sept 28, health cards were available to 12.5 lakh beneficiaries, of whom 7.5 lakh had downloaded them. Officials said beneficiaries should not be denied treatment for failing to carry a health card and can instead use their employee or pensioner identification number.Outpatient services, including consultations, diagnostic tests and medicines, are being provided through 12 wellness centres. The govt plans to open 25 more centres, taking the total to 37.The govt has released ₹70 crore towards pending dues under the earlier Employees Health Scheme (EHS), while ₹100.5 crore remains outstanding. Of this, ₹23.8 crore is due to private hospitals and ₹76.6 crore to govt hospitals.Helpdesks have been established at 30 super-speciality hospitals to assist beneficiaries with registration, admission, treatment coordination and grievance redressal.
