Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday unveiled an ambitious roadmap to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, saying the state was no longer competing merely with neighbouring states but with the rest of the world.Speaking at the ‘Praja Palana Dinotsavam’ celebration organised by the state govt at Public Gardens to mark the anniversary of merger of Hyderabad with the Indian Union, Revanth said Telangana’s growth strategy would be built around large-scale investments, infrastructure expansion, welfare, social justice and human capital development.“The goal is not just to meet today’s needs but to build the Telangana of tomorrow,” he said.The chief minister said the master plan for the proposed Future City would be unveiled at the Invest Telangana Global Summit-2026 in Dec. He said the project had already generated considerable investor interest, with Tata Consultancy Services proposing a Rs 70,000-crore AI data centre and Amazon beginning work on a Rs 1 lakh crore data centre.Revanth said the government’s development model sought to combine investment-led growth with welfare, social justice and skill development. Under the ‘Telangana Rising Vision 2047’, the state aims to increase its contribution to India’s GDP to 10%, Revanth said. At the centre of the strategy is the proposed Bharat Future City, a 30,000-acre net-zero smart city that the government sees as a key driver of future growth.The Future City is envisaged as a cluster of specialised hubs, including an AI city, health city, education city, life sciences hub, EV park and the Young India Skills University.The chief minister also outlined a major infrastructure push, highlighting the Regional Ring Road, greenfield highways, dry ports and industrial corridors connecting Hyderabad with Nagpur, Bengaluru and Vijayawada.On connectivity, Revanth said road projects worth more than Rs 19,000 crore were being executed through the roads and buildings and panchayat raj departments. Despite a rainfall deficit attributed to El Niño conditions and rising power demand, he said the govt was taking steps to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply.Focus on agriculture and farmersRevanth said the govt had waived crop loans of up to Rs 2 lakh, benefiting 25.35 lakh farming families spending Rs 20,616 crore.More than Rs 36,000 crore has been transferred under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, while a Rs 500-per-quintal bonus for fine-variety paddy has helped increase farmers’ incomes, he said. Telangana now ranks first in the country in both paddy cultivation area and yield, he claimed.Welfare and social justiceHighlighting welfare initiatives, Revanth said the govt had introduced free bus travel for women, provided 200 units of free electricity to more than 53 lakh households and supplied subsidised LPG cylinders to 43 lakh families.He said 4.5 lakh houses had been sanctioned under the first phase of the Indiramma housing scheme, while another 2.5 lakh houses had been approved in the second phase.On social justice, the chief minister referred to the socio-economic caste survey and legislation providing 42% reservation for Backward Classes in education, employment and local bodies. He also highlighted the implementation of Scheduled Caste categorisation.Education and healthcareThe govt is also stepping up investments in education and healthcare, Revanth said. Initiatives include Young India Integrated Residential Schools, expanded scholarship coverage and efforts to attract international universities to Hyderabad.In healthcare, the govt has increased Aarogyasri coverage to Rs 10 lakh and is constructing a new Osmania Hospital at an estimated cost of Rs 2,700 crore.
