T clears 2 DA hikes for govt employees, pensioners

Hyderabad: The state govt on Wednesday issued orders sanctioning two instalments of dearness allowance (DA) for govt employees and pensioners, offering relief to thousands of employees ahead of Dasara.The state cabinet had approved the release of two DAs at its meeting on Oct 1. The revised DA will be paid along with Oct salaries, with the enhanced amount set to be credited to employees’ accounts on Nov 1.The DA increase is expected to place an additional annual burden of around ₹2,500 crore on the state exchequer.According to the orders, DA for employees under regular pay scales has been revised to 37.31% with effect from Jan 2024. The revised rates for employees under other pay scales are 81.72% for the 2015 pay scale, 40.04% for the 2020 pay scale, 53% for the 2016 pay scale, and 246% for the 2006 pay scale.The enhanced DA will also be applicable to employees covered under UGC and AICTE pay scales.The govt has decided to clear the DA arrears in instalments. Arrears arising from the Jan 2024 DA revision will be paid in 33 instalments, while those relating to the July 2024 DA revision will be cleared in 27 instalments.As per the orders, the arrears will be credited to employees’ General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts.
