​South stars pay respect to Nana Patekar; Jr NTR, Prabhu Deva mourn veteran actor; Prakash Raj recalls cherished moments​


Actor and director Prabhu Deva also mourned Nana Patekar’s passing. In his social media message, he highlighted the actor’s powerful performances and lasting contribution to Indian cinema.

” Deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary actor Nana Patekar Sir. His powerful performances, remarkable talent and immense contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers.”

R Madhavan joined the tributes by remembering the impact Nana Patekar’s performance in ‘Prahaar: The Final Attack’ had on him. He described the late actor as a legend and recalled being deeply moved by the 1991 film.

“A legend moves on. Thank you for the unforgettable moments in the Theatres, and the invaluable lessons to actors. I still remember exactly how moved and inspired I felt after watching ‘Prahaar’. There will be none other like you, sir. RIP,” Madhavan said on his Instagram Stories.

Nana Patekar, born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, built a career spanning more than four decades. He made his Hindi film debut with ‘Gaman’ in 1978 and later became known for his intense performances and distinctive dialogue delivery.

His notable films included ‘Salaam Bombay!’, ‘Parinda’, ‘Angaar’, ‘Tirangaa’, ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Agni Sakshi’, ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’, ‘Yeshwant’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Apaharan’ and ‘Raajneeti’.

As reported by ANI, Nana Patekar was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, and was taken to hospital. Doctors declared him brought dead. His death has left a significant void in Indian cinema.
