Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Saturday criticised chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s remark that the upcoming political battle in India would be between the “Gandhi Pariwar” and the “Sangh Pariwar,” calling the comparison “laughable.”Ramchander Rao, who is currently on a tour of Australia, said in a statement that Revanth Reddy’s remarks reflected the difference between what he described as the Congress’s “family-centric” politics and the “selfless patriotism” practised by the Sangh Parivar.“For the Congress party, politics begins with a single family. But for the BJP, national interest is always paramount and far above any individual or family,” Ramchander Rao said.He also referred to the Emergency imposed during the Congress govt in 1975 and the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, questioning the Congress’s record on democracy and governance.Ramchander Rao said the Sangh Parivar does not function on the basis of a surname or a single family’s legacy. He described it as an organisation built on the sacrifices of generations of workers who, he said, dedicated themselves to social service, nation-building and discipline without seeking positions or recognition.The BJP state president dismissed Revanth Reddy’s comparison as “baseless and meaningless,” arguing that Indian politics should focus on the interests and aspirations of citizens rather than any particular political family.“The Congress wants national politics to always revolve around the ‘Gandhi Family.’ But we strongly believe that Indian politics should revolve only around the self-respect of 1.4 billion citizens and the national interest of India,” Ramchander Rao said.
