‘Ramayana’ runtime in English to be SHORTER; Hindi cut of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer to be 30 minutes longer with song sequences |

Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited ‘Ramayana‘ is being mounted as a two-part cinematic spectacle, with the makers preparing a grand global rollout. However, according to the latest reports, international audiences watching the English cut may be in for a shorter runtime than the original Hindi cut.The English version of the film led by Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash starrer is expected to be around 30 minutes shorter than the Hindi version, according to Variety India. As per the report, the film ‘will not have any songs’ besides some other scenes being ‘trimmed’ to suit international viewers. This decision for two different cuts, has reportedly been taken with international viewing preferences in mind. A source told the portal, “While Indian audiences are used to three-hour-plus films with songs, that doesn’t hold true for a global audience, which is why the producers took this decision.“While the songs are reportedly not essential to advancing the story, the music and score by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are expected to play a major role in the Indian-language dubbed versions.Although the film’s final runtime has not been revealed, during the film’s promotions in the US, leading man Ranbir, who plays Lord Rama, revealed that the two-part saga will feature nearly six hours of epic visuals and action, while exploring themes of family, duty, love and the triumph of good over evil. Soon after, rumours were rife that the film could have a runtime of approximately 3 hours.This update comes just a day after Sony Pictures (USA) confirmed an early international release for the film. While originally slated for a November 6 release, the film will now reportedly release a day early, on November 5, in international markets and will host preview shows on November 4. With this, the film will enjoy a headstart at the box office, where it is slated to clash with the Japanese film ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ and the Hollywood animated film ‘The Cat In The Hat’.The film’s release in India has been slated for November 8, on the occasion of Diwali. Meanwhile, Part 2 of the film is currently planned for a Diwali 2027 release.
