Manoj Muntashir gets trolled for sharing 'Adipurush' song after 'Jai Jai Ram' release from Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana': 'Isko khushi doosre ki bardhast nai hoti'

The release of ‘Jai Jai Ram’, the first song from Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, has sparked plenty of excitement among audiences. However, shortly after the song dropped, a social media post by ‘Adipurush’ dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir caught netizens’ attention. Muntashir shared the ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song from the Prabhas-starrer, prompting several users to question the timing of his post.Hours after ‘Jai Jai Ram’ was released, Manoj took to X and shared a video of the ‘Adipurush’ song. Along with it, he wrote, “The poignant tale of Ram-Siya. One is sandalwood, one is water 🙏 (sic).” Although Muntashir did not mention ‘Ramayana’ or its song in his post, social media users quickly connected the two developments. While some accused the writer of being jealous of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’, others brought up the criticism that ‘Adipurush’ received upon its release. One user wrote, “Isko khushi doosre ki bardhast ni hoti wo bhi hamare Ram g ka ganaa hai usse kya dikkat isko,” while another commented, “So much jealousy over one song, that the guy who came and added this Ramayana song, what about everything that happened in the entire Adipurush movie?”Released in June 2023, ‘Adipurush’ was based on the Hindu epic Ramayana and starred Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan and Sunny Singh. The film faced widespread criticism following its release, with audiences objecting to several aspects of its dialogues and the depiction of characters including Ravana and Lord Hanuman. The controversy surrounding the film also centred on the dialogue, “kapda tere baap ka”. Although the makers later changed the line, the move did little to ease the backlash. A petition was subsequently filed in the Supreme Court seeking the revocation of the film’s CBFC certification, but the plea was rejected by the top court.Manoj Muntashir had previously addressed the criticism surrounding ‘Adipurush’ and admitted that the film was a major mistake. Speaking to Times Now, he said, “In the beginning, I was a bit dismissive. It took me two days to understand. Adipurush was the biggest mistake of my life and to defend that film was an even bigger mistake. Whatever happened around the film, I’m very ashamed about it, and I beg the forgiveness of this country for all that had happened,”Meanwhile, Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The ambitious two-part project is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures is set to handle the film’s global distribution outside India.
