David Bowie was an English musician, singer-songwriter, and actor who was revered as one of the most legendary artists of his time. He was born on January 8, 1947, in London, England. His mother worked as a waitress, while his father worked for a charity organisation as a promotional officer. From an early age, Bowie was heavily interested in music and the arts. He started singing in the school choir and started playing the saxophone when he was only 13 years old. At the age of 16, he made the big decision to drop out of school and seriously pursue his career as a singer.His first band was the Konrads, which he founded in school when he was 15. However, a year later, he left the band and joined another called the King Bees. His real name was David Robert Jones; however, in the 60s, he started using the surname Bowie as his stage name to ensure that he was not confused with Davy Jones from the Monkees.
