Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday pulled up revenue officials over delays in resolving land-related grievances, warning tahsildars and sub-registrars against forcing citizens to make repeated visits to govt offices for routine work.At a review meeting on revenue issues in the erstwhile Nalgonda district held in Suryapet, the minister directed officials to examine every land-related application with a positive approach and ensure its disposal within the stipulated timeframe. He stressed that special focus should be given to long-pending applications.Expressing concern over delays, Srinivas Reddy sought an explanation from the Addaguduru tahsildar in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, where 45 land-related applications have remained pending for several months. He instructed the district collectors to seek a formal explanation from the official.“It is not appropriate to keep applications pending for days after people have submitted them seeking resolution of their land-related problems,” the minister said, adding that officials must take responsibility for every application and ensure timely resolution.Srinivas Reddy said revenue officials have a key role in implementing the Bhu Bharati Act, the state govt’s flagship initiative aimed at resolving long-standing land disputes and issues faced by citizens.The minister also directed officials to give top priority to the first phase of the statewide re-survey and complete it by the end of Oct. At the same time, he asked them to start preparations for the second phase, proposed to begin in Dec.He instructed officials to conduct the re-survey transparently in the 70 villages covered under the first phase and ensure village boundaries are accurately demarcated. District collectors and additional collectors should directly monitor the exercise at the field level, while RDOs and tahsildars should participate in gram sabhas and assess ground-level issues, he said.Srinivas Reddy further directed officials to update land records online on the same day surveys are conducted. In areas facing a shortage of surveyors, staff should be deployed from neighbouring mandals if required, he said.The minister also ordered action against licensed surveyors who fail to perform their duties, including cancellation of licences in serious cases.
