NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 76 on Thursday, with President Droupadi Murmu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union ministers and other BJP leaders extending birthday greetings to him and highlighting his tenure in public service and governance.President Droupadi Murmu, in a post on X, said Modi had established “many new benchmarks of good governance” during his 25 years as chief minister and prime minister and given “unprecedented momentum and a new direction” to inclusive development.Murmu said that while India was advancing on the path of modern progress with a sense of cultural pride, people were witnessing a harmony between heritage and development. She wished Modi good health and a long life so that he could continue his work in public service and nation-building.Yogi Adityanath described Modi as the “world’s most popular leader” and the architect of “New India”. In a post on X, the UP chief minister said Modi’s commitment to “Nation First” and public welfare was an inspiration for achieving the goal of a “Developed India”.

He said Modi’s contribution should be viewed not only in terms of the length of his public service but also in how he had steered the country forward.Majumdar claimed that 25 crore people had been lifted out of multidimensional poverty under Modi’s leadership, citing the World Bank. He also pointed to India’s GDP growth, saying it was around 7.8 to 8 per cent despite global conflicts and the economic impact of wars.The BJP is also set to launch the ‘Seva Sankalp’ campaign across states to mark Modi’s birthday, with party leaders and workers expected to participate in public service and welfare-related activities.
