Palash Sen reacts to Salman Khan’s remark on paid PR campaigns: ‘He’s a part of starting this, problems never arise from the bottom of the hierarchy’ | Hindi Movie News

Salman Khan recently called out the culture of online trolling and alleged paid negative PR campaigns in the film industry during a ‘Bigg Boss 20’ Weekend Ka Vaar episode. While the actor criticised those who target films and celebrities online, singer, songwriter and actor Palash Sen has now questioned Salman’s own role in the practice. Sen alleged that the superstar had also contributed to the problem over the years.Palash recalled an instance when a trailer featuring an A-list female actor received more dislikes than likes, prompting YouTube to disable its dislike feature. He said such incidents make it increasingly difficult to establish whether online reactions are genuine or driven by paid campaigns.Reacting to Salman’s comments on negative PR, Palash suggested that the practice could not be blamed solely on those at the lower levels of the industry, arguing that it was a problem that extended to the top.He said in an interview with Screen, “He’s a part of starting this. Let’s not forget that. Problems never arise from the bottom of the hierarchy; it starts from the top. I am not pointing a finger at anyone, but if you live by the sword, you are also going to get killed by the sword. Everybody in the film industry who has maintained their position for many, many years, obviously has played with the PR guys; we all know it.”Palash further said that while he considered Salman’s remarks brave, he believed the actor had also been part of the problem. He also questioned whether the superstar’s comments on ‘Bigg Boss 20’ were spontaneous or planned as part of the show.He added, “One day, you can start saying things and sound like a saint. Though it was very, very brave of him to say what he did. I am telling you he was part of the problem. We all know it. Even the fact that he did this on this show (Bigg Boss 20)…100 per cent, we don’t know whether this was scripted or it was really organic. It has become so difficult for all of us to figure out”During the ‘Bigg Boss 20’ Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Salman addressed online trolling and came out in support of Katrina Kaif after she faced criticism over her weight gain following childbirth. He also questioned the ethics of people who allegedly participate in paid campaigns to damage the reputation of actors and their films.

Salman said, “I know who trolls me. We have so many fan clubs that we know who does what. We just choose not to react. They are making money by putting you down, and there might be heroes or producers who would encourage this by paying some money. Then people talk about corruption. For money, they give four or five stars to films. That is also a huge corruption. So are you in any position to talk about ethics or morals?”Apart from music, Palash has also explored acting. He made an appearance in the 2002 film ‘Filhaal’, which featured Tabu and Sushmita Sen. In August 2026, he and Euphoria marked nearly three decades in the music industry with the release of their album ‘Dhoomsday’.
