Mohanlal’s costume designer Jishad Shamsudeen has explained his recent criticism of the actor’s limited screen presence in ‘Jailer 2’. He said his comments came from the disappointment he felt as a devoted fan of the Malayalam superstar. Jishad also stressed that he respects the creative freedom of filmmakers and their decisions during the editing process. The costume designer shared the clarification on Instagram after his earlier post drew attention to the portions featuring Mohanlal that did not appear in the final film.

Jishad Shamsudeen explains his reaction

In his latest Instagram note, Jishad said his remarks reflected his admiration for Mohanlal rather than a disregard for the filmmaking process.Jishad Shamsudeen’s Instagram note read, “What I expressed yesterday came purely from the heart of a devoted Lalettan fan. As someone who admires him deeply, it was naturally disheartening to see his portions reduced. At the same time, as a technician in this industry, I wholeheartedly respect the creative process and the autonomy of the filmmakers. Thank you, and sending love.”

Earlier post raised concerns over deleted scenes

Before issuing the clarification, Jishad had expressed his disappointment over the removal of several portions featuring Mohanlal. He said he had been confident about the material filmed for ‘Jailer 2’. However, he claimed that three distinct looks created for the actor were excluded from the final cut. A scene featuring Mohanlal in the trailer was also reportedly removed.Jishad’s earlier post read, “To everyone who loves and supports me – with the release of Jailer 2, I want to share an important update!! Based on what was shot, I was completely confident in our work, even when reduced to a 2-second glimpse in the trailer. But with the film’s release, three of Mohanlal Sir’s distinct looks were cut entirely, and even that trailer scene was trimmed out. From my experience in cinema, trimming scenes involving a superstar like Mohanlal Sir is simply unnecessary. Seeing our superstar reduced like this, if there is a sequel, I will not be a part of it. I am truly sorry to everyone who trusted me. I don’t stand for favours, profits, crore clubs, or stardom. I stand solely for the fans, lovers of the craft, and Mohanlal Sir. Thank you for always standing by my journey.”
