Hyderabad: Madhapur police on Tuesday arrested one person for allegedly killing a 29-year-old private employee Sharon Nikhita Topno at a hotel in Madhapur on Sept 22. The accused was identified as Srinivasa Ravi Teja, a native of Visakhapatnam. Police said Ravi Teja did not want to marry the woman and killed her during an argument in the hotel room. The victim, Sharon Nikhitha Topno, a native of Visakhapatnam, had checked into room No 304 of a hotel on Road No. 5 in Siddiqui Nagar of Madhapur, with Ravi Teja, at around 2 pm on Sept 21.The next morning, Ravi Teja alerted the hotel staff that Sharon had fallen unconscious. With their assistance, he shifted her to a private hospital in Kothaguda, where she was declared brought dead. “After she was declared dead, Ravi Teja fled from the hospital. There were injuries on her body and a murder case was registered under Section 103 (1) of the BNS. Our special team started tracking Ravi Teja’s whereabouts and traced him to his native place, Visakhapatnam,” Madhapur inspector KV Subba Rao said.Subsequently, on Sept 23, Madhapur police received information from Visakhapatnam police that Ravi Teja had consumed an unknown substance in an attempt to end his life and had been shifted by the family to a local private hospital for treatment. “Ravi Teja consumed floor cleaner. He was discharged from the hospital on Monday. We produced him before a local court in Visakhapatnam and brought him to Hyderabad on a prisoner transit warrant. Ravi Teja confessed that he had been in a relationship with the victim for four years and that, as he did not want to marry her, an argument took place at the hotel room. During the argument, he hit her head against the wall, resulting in her death. He was sent to judicial remand on Tuesday,” the inspector said.
