‘House of the Dragon’ star Ewan Mitchell could be bringing his menacing act from Westeros onto the big screen with Denis Villeneuve‘s upcoming James Bond film.If there is anyone more iconic than 007, himself, it is the menacing Bond villain who sends the spy on a run for his money. With rumours doing the rounds about various actors being considered for the role of Bond, Mitchell’s name has popped up as the actor being considered to play the villain.

Ewan Mitchell to play Bond villain?

According to The Sun, Mitchell, best known for playing Prince Aemond Targaryen in HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’, is being eyed as the next Bond villain. Mitchell rose to international prominence as Prince Aemond Targaryen in ‘House of the Dragon’, the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series.The third season premiered earlier this year, with the fourth and final season scheduled to arrive in 2028.The casting rumour comes amid buzz that the makers are looking to cast a younger Bond, following Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise in 2021’s ‘No Time To Die’.

Makers on next James Bond film

Amazon MGM Studios is developing the next 007 film, with Villeneuve, director of ‘Dune’, attached to direct. Steven Knight, the creator of ‘Peaky Blinders’, is writing the screenplay.“The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right,” Amazon previously said early this year. Producer Amy Pascal has previously said that the next Bond will be cast by the end of 2026.“We are being really, really methodical. I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it’s got to be something really different that is stirring, exciting and different,” Pascal said in a statement.

James Bond casting rumours run wild

There have been many stars rumoured to be in the running for the role of the next 007. Last month, rumours were rife that ‘Slow Horses’ star Jack Lowden could just end up as the next Bond after his co-star Gary Oldman backed his casting as a potential bond. Meanwhile, filmmaker Danny Boyle has shown his support for actor Jack O’Connell taking on the iconic role.Actors including Callum Turner, ‘Spider-Man’ star Tom Holland and even Taron Egerton have also been rumoured to be in the running for the role.
