HC hears plea for grace marks to JNTUH BTech students | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Thursday heard a petition filed by the Students Protection Forum (SPF), a student body, seeking the grant of grace marks to BTech students covered under the R22 regulations of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH). The R22 regulations contain provisions under which the university may award grace marks to students in specific categories.During the hearing, Justice Juvvadi Sridevi directly interacted with students present in the courtroom and sought to understand the issues faced by them under the R22 regulations and their demand for grace marks. One of the students, Srihas, explained the difficulties faced by students who fall short of passing by a few marks. He told the court that many students were unable to complete their degrees because of the shortfall, adversely affecting their academic prospects, employment opportunities and plans for higher education.Srihas further submitted that granting grace marks would provide relief to students facing such circumstances. After hearing the students’ submissions, JNTUH officials sought additional time to file their counter-affidavit. The court accordingly adjourned the matter to Sept 18.
