Hyderabad: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the Congress govt would construct one lakh LIG flats in the CURE area in a phased manner and increase the number further until every eligible person gets a house under the Indiramma housing scheme.The minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of Indiramma Towers on 2.85 acres behind Malkam Cheruvu in Raidurg, under Serilingampally constituency, and distributed house allotment letters to beneficiaries.Ponguleti said the previous BRS govt had constructed houses for the poor in distant locations. In contrast, the present govt was constructing Indiramma Towers in prime and high-value areas which are within five to eight km of beneficiaries’ current residential locations.“The govt is taking steps to provide beneficiaries full rights over their apartments, including an undivided land share of 17 to 20 square yards. Sale deeds would be provided without registration charges,” Ponguleti said.The minister said there would be no political interference in beneficiary selection. Eligible applicants would be selected through a transparent lottery system, with the results publicly announced and an opportunity provided to file objections. Construction of 480 houses per constituency was being launched in the first phase, with tender and agreement processes completed at several locations.Ponguleti directed beneficiaries to regularly inspect construction and report any quality-related issues to officials. The govt would ensure quality and expedite construction with the aim of completing the towers in time for the Bonalu festival next year.Independent Indiramma housesIn the case of independent Indiramma houses in rural areas, Ponguleti said special permission would be granted to eligible cases where construction had already commenced. Funds would be released where basement work had been completed. Sanctions for ineligible applicants who had not started construction would be cancelled, and such houses would be reallocated to eligible beneficiaries.
