Govt to fast-track pending Urban Land Ceiling cases, says Ponguleti | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said the Congress govt has taken a crucial decision to resolve Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) applications that had been pending for decades. He said although the previous govt had issued a GO in 2016 to address the issue, the lack of implementation had resulted in thousands of applications remaining unresolved for years. As a result, people faced numerous difficulties related to land rights and transactions, he alleged.In line with chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s resolve to find a permanent solution to the land-related issues faced by the public, the Congress govt, following discussions in the cabinet, has initiated measures to resolve Section 22-A issues through a fast-track process. “Clear instructions have been issued to expeditiously examine pending applications concerning colonies that were either partially regularised or unregularised under the Telangana Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act and to regularise eligible cases in accordance with the rules,” the minister said.

To this end, a memo (No. 48062/ULC/A1/2026-1) was issued on Sunday to facilitate the review and resolution of pending ULC applications filed under previously issued GOs 455, 456, 747 and 92.Officials have been directed to undertake regularisation measures for eligible cases after completing all necessary procedural formalities as per the regulations. “Although the previous BRS govt issued a GO in 2016 to resolve ULC issues, the failure to implement it has left applications pending for years. The incumbent Congress govt is taking action in line with the assurance given by chief minister Revanth Reddy in the legislative assembly on Sept 16, promising to fast-track the resolution of 10-12 key issues related to Section 22A,” Ponguleti said.Steps taken so far include the formation of a high-level committee, followed by the issuance of memos aligned with GO 118 and GO 76. Orders have also been issued permitting the registration of houses, plots and flats that have approvals from GHMC, HMDA, DTCP or municipal authorities, even if they were previously listed under Section 22A, the minister said. Stating that clear orders had been issued to resolve ULC applications that had been pending for decades, Ponguleti assured that the remaining issues would also be resolved soon.The Congress govt’s primary objective is to provide relief to the people from long-standing issues. This involves examining land-related problems causing hardship to citizens and resolving them in accordance with the law and regulations, the minister added.
