GMR Aero Technic partners StandardAero to offer on-wing engine MRO support in APAC | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services provider GMR Aero Technic (GAT) on Wednesday said it has signed an agreement with StandardAero to develop GAT as an authorised service centre for on-wing engine support in the Asia-Pacific region.GAT said the deal will expand GAT’s focus beyond traditional airframe MRO into higher-value engine and component support services capabilities and beef up its footprint in the APAC aviation market while boosting India’s prospects as a competitive global MRO hub.The partnership will combine StandardAero’s engine aftermarket expertise with GAT’s MRO infrastructure and location in India to cater to airlines and aircraft operators across APAC.The proposed centre is aimed at reducing aircraft downtime and improving operational efficiency by providing specialised engine maintenance closer to operators’ bases, GAT said.The planned services include engine and module replacement, borescope inspections, fan blade and fuel nozzle replacement, gearbox changes, engine preservation and storage, quick engine change build-up, electronic control unit software upgrades, engine logistics support and engine change services.Ashok Gopinath, president and accountable manager of GMR Aero Technic, said the tie-up would help build advanced engine support capabilities in APAC and strengthen India’s position as an MRO hub.Rebecca Lane, StandardAero’s senior vice president for global sales, said India is among the fastest-growing commercial aviation markets and the agreement reinforces the company’s commitment to local support globally.
