Shiva Kumar PinnaWarangal: An Intelligence department police constable was critically injured, and three others, including a couple, were injured after a speeding car allegedly driven by a youth under the influence of alcohol rammed into them on Hunter Road in Warangal late on Sunday night.The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and first crashed into a roadside ice cream cart before veering onto the road and hitting the victims.The injured constable, Kasula Srinivas (45), a resident of Deshaipet, sustained severe injuries and was shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. The other injured were ice cream vendor N Rajesh and a couple travelling on a two-wheeler, identified as Suhal Rahul and his wife.The driver was identified as Kondaparthi Raju, a resident of Brundavan Colony on Hunter Road. He was taken into custody by the Matwada police.According to Matwada inspector N Karunakar, Srinivas was returning home after completing his night duty and had stopped near an ice cream cart opposite a temple. He had parked his motorcycle and was sitting on it when a car bearing registration number TS 24 J 3856, travelling from Seven Mories towards Adalat Centre, was allegedly driven at high speed in a rash and negligent manner by Raju, who was under the influence of alcohol.The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit Srinivas, dragging him for some distance. The car then ploughed into the ice cream cart before colliding with the two-wheeler carrying Rahul and his wife.Srinivas suffered serious injuries to his head, right hand and left leg. Rajesh and the couple also sustained injuries in the crash. Locals shifted the injured to MGM Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Srinivas was later shifted to Hyderabad for specialised treatment.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
