FIR against BJP BLA over ‘false’ Form-7 applications, first such case in Telangana | India News

NEW DELHI: An FIR has been registered against a BJP Booth Level Agent (BLA) for allegedly filing “false” Form-7 applications seeking the deletion of 30 voters from the electoral rolls during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).The case is the first FIR registered in Telangana over allegations of submitting Form-7 applications containing “false” information, news agency PTI reported. The FIR was registered at Chikkadapally Police Station against BJP BLA S Balachander following a complaint by an election official. Police have invoked relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Representation of the People Act.“Following a complaint that the BLA submitted forms for deletion of 30 electors, we have registered an FIR. The matter is under investigation,” a police official told PTI.Earlier, Telangana Congress leaders had approached Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy, alleging that Balachander, the BJP’s BLA in Musheerabad, had submitted Form-7 applications seeking deletion of the names of 30 electors. The Congress alleged that the applications amounted to an attempt to unlawfully remove genuine voters from the electoral rolls and sought legal action against those responsible. The Telangana Congress also approached Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, seeking registration of an FIR and an SIT investigation into what it described as a suspected BJP plan to carry out large-scale deletion of genuine voters during the SIR.In its complaint, the Congress alleged that the BJP BLA in the Musheerabad assembly constituency had submitted Form-7 applications seeking deletion of the names of another BJP BLA, Sharfuddin, and members of his family.Form-7 is used by voters to file objections to the proposed inclusion or seek deletion of a name from an existing electoral roll. The BJP has rejected the allegations. Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao said that no BJP BLA had submitted any such Form-7 applications.
