Hyderabad: A Bihar native was taken into custody by Begumpet police on Thursday after he was allegedly found posing in an Air Force uniform during a photoshoot at Parade Grounds, reportedly to create a false identity on social media and lure women.According to police, the accused, identified as Nitin, was spotted by Army security personnel stationed at Parade Grounds. Dressed in an Air Force uniform, he initially appeared to be a serving officer. However, security personnel grew suspicious when they began interacting with him and alerted senior officials.Nitin was subsequently questioned by Army personnel on the premises. Officials said he failed to provide satisfactory answers and began fumbling during the interaction. When confronted further, he allegedly attempted to flee but was caught and restrained by security personnel. The Army authorities then informed Begumpet police, who reached the spot and took him into custody.During questioning, Nitin allegedly admitted that he was a civilian and had been posing as an Air Force officer. Investigators believe he intended to use photographs of himself in uniform on social media to gain the trust of women.“Going by the uniform, he impersonated an Air Marshal and a Wing Commander. Any officer of that rank will not move alone and come to the ground like any other common man. His intention was to cheat women by posting the photographs on social media. He has been doing it for the last two months. So far, there are no victims from our state and information is being gathered if he had cheated any girl from other states,’’ Begumpet police inspector P Saidulu told TOI.Police said the accused’s social media accounts are being examined, and efforts are underway to ascertain whether he had cheated or attempted to deceive women in other states using the fabricated identity.
