Elderly woman assaulted over suspicion of black magic; 14 booked | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: A 65-year-old woman was accused of practising black magic and assaulted along with her family members by neighbours from Nomula village in Manchal mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Sept 23. Though the police registered a case against 14 villagers on the same day, the incident came to light after videos of the assault went viral on social media on Monday.Ibrahimpatnam ACP KVM Raju said that during the assault, the homemaker, P Venkatamma, was tied to a neem tree near a worship place.On the same night her son P Mahesh, lodged a complaint alleging the group also attacked his father, Pochaiah. “When I went to the spot and tried to intervene, the accused punched and kicked me. They damaged my car’s rear windshield. My sister and brother-in-law rescued us,” Mahesh alleged.Police booked a case against 14 villagers under relevant sections of the BNS. “We have picked up one of the suspects for questioning. Our team is trying to locate the others,” the ACP said.
