Hyderabad: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his ‘vote chori’ allegations, accusing the party of undermining the electoral process while encouraging defections by elected representatives.Kishan alleged that 10 MLAs elected on other parties’ tickets had joined Congress after it came to power in Telangana. Referring to Danam Nagender, he said Congress had given him a Lok Sabha ticket while he continued to be an MLA of another party.“This is the real vote chori,” Kishan said, alleging that Congress had disregarded the voters’ mandate by inducting elected representatives from other parties.He also criticised Rahul for questioning the Election Commission and other constitutional institutions over election results. Referring to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Kishan said the BJP did not come to power in Tamil Nadu, where SIR was conducted, while the Congress-led UDF won in Kerala.In West Bengal, he claimed, the TMC won 13 of the 20 constituencies where large-scale deletion of voters’ names had taken place, while the BJP won six. He questioned Rahul’s allegation that SIR was designed to benefit the BJP.Kishan said the Congress had booth agents across the country and opportunities to raise objections to the electoral rolls. He demanded that Rahul apologise for his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home minister Amit Shah.
