Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to extend financial assistance of ₹10 lakh to the family of Lingala Kedari and his wife Pushpalatha, who died in a tragic incident earlier this month, in recognition of their contribution to the Telangana statehood movement.Kedari, a resident of Shantinagar Postal Colony in Hanumakonda, and his wife were involved in social service during the Telangana statehood movement. The couple ran a small restaurant and provided free meals and tea to activists during the movement. They also campaigned against food wastage by emphasising the importance of treating food with respect.Kedari died on Sept 9, 2026, while Pushpalatha died the following day in a case of suspected suicide. Hanumakonda collector was directed to ensure that the ₹10 lakh sanctioned from the CMRF reaches their next of kin.In a separate case, the chief minister directed officials to sanction ₹5 lakh to the family of Mandala Raju, who went missing during the Telangana statehood movement in 2013.Raju (34), son of Mandala Sammi Reddy of Gorlaveedu village in Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district, had gone missing on June 20, 2013. Raju had actively participated in the Telangana movement and was arrested and lodged in Cherlapally jail before going missing, according to a representation submitted by Bhupalpally MLA Gandra Satyanarayana.Responding to the MLA’s request, the chief minister directed officials to provide ₹5 lakh to Sammi Reddy on humanitarian grounds under the Telangana martyrs’ quota.
