Canadian citizen alleges wife, kin forced him to take potency test, demanded ₹2 crore; case booked | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old Canadian citizen has filed a complaint with the Punjagutta police against his wife and her relatives, accusing them of forcibly seizing his passport, falsely branding him as impotent and demanding Rs 2 crore. In his complaint, the tech support executive employed with a Canada-based company, alleged that his wife, her brother-in-law, who works as a hospital administration manager, her uncle, and other family members not only took away his Canadian passport, citizenship card, and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card but also withheld his original birth certificate without his knowledge.Subsequently, he alleged that they threatened him and his parents and forced him to undergo a potency test. “They compelled me to take the penile doppler test at a private hospital in Somajiguda. I was subjected to extreme pressure to undergo the test as a condition for returning my passport and other documents,” the complainant alleged. He also claimed he suffered severe pain and mental trauma after the procedure and feared long-term health effects. “After the tests, my wife and her family falsely alleged that I was impotent and demanded Rs 2 crore from me,” he claimed. As the allegations were non-cognisable, police sought permission from the court and registered a case under Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation punishment) of the BNS on Oct 5 against the complainant’s wife and her family members.Police said that the couple got married on Aug 27, 2026. Less than a month later, the complainant’s wife, who belongs to NIzamabad district, lodged a complaint with Bodhan police accusing him of cheating by concealing his impotency and subjecting her to domestic harassment. “She also alleged that he took Rs 50 lakh cash and five tola gold as dowry,” said Punjagutta inspector, Jahangeer Yadav. After the Bodhan police booked a case of cheating and domestic harassment — along with DP (dowry prohibition) Act — against the complainant, the wife’s family allegedly forced him to take the test and demanded Rs 2 crore as monetary compensation.“On Sept 21, the man first lodged a complaint against his wife and family members with Bachupally police (as documents were allegedly taken from his house there). Since he was forced to take the test at a hospital in this area, he filed a second complaint at Punjagutta. We will now issue notices to the accused and record their statements,” Yadav added.Punjagutta police said that the complainant and his parents, who belong to Andhra Pradesh, have been living in Canada for a long time and had come to Hyderabad only for the wedding.
