Filmmaker Kuku Kohli of ‘Phool Aur Kante’ fame passed away on August 25 in Mumbai, with the news confirmed to ETimes by the spokesperson of his wife, actor Aruna Irani. His funeral took place on Wednesday at a cremetorium in Andheri and Aruna Irani looking devastated as she arrived for her husband’s funeral. She was being escorted by her family members.

Many other celebs also arrive for paying their last respects. Rohit Shetty, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Sham Kaushal among others were spotted arriving at the cremetorium.

Raza Murad, Deepak Parashar among others were also spotted at the funeral.Meanwhile, when ETimes got the confirmation of the filmmaker’s demise, Aruna Irani was not in a condition to speak at the time, her spokesperson shared details about Kohli’s health and the events leading up to the cardiac arrest.According to the spokesperson, Kuku Kohli began feeling restless on Monday night and subsequently suffered a mild heart attack. He was rushed to Kokilaben Hospital, where doctors performed an angioplasty. His condition appeared stable after the procedure.However, things took a sudden turn on Tuesday at around 5:15 pm when Kohli suffered a massive cardiac arrest.Aruna Irani was by his side at the hospital and was reportedly exchanging messages with him. The two were said to be in a light-hearted mood, with Kohli even telling her, “Let’s not go overboard.”Soon after, however, Kohli began showing signs of distress. His condition deteriorated shortly afterwards, and he eventually stopped responding.Kohli went on to direct several notable films, including Kohraam, starring Dharmendra, and Suhaag, featuring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Karisma Kapoor apart from his most popular film, ‘Phool Aur Kante’. He also directed Haqeeqat, starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Amrish PuriHe married veteran actress Aruna Irani in 1990. The couple reportedly did not have children together. This was Kohli’s second marriage, and he had two daughters from his first marriage to Rita Kohli.
