Aragen Life Sciences files DRHP with Sebi for IPO that includes ₹800 crore fresh issue | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Contract research, development and manufacturing organisation Aragen Life Sciences, formerly known as GVK Biosciences, has filed a draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the capital markets regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), for its initial public offering (IPO).The proposed IPO comprises a fresh issue of around ₹800 crore and an offer for sale of up to 27,329,192 equity shares of face value ₹10 by the existing shareholders.According to the filing, the GVK Group company plans to utilise the proceeds from the fresh issue for repayment or prepayment of borrowings, purchase of equipment and machinery for the company’s Hyderabad facilities, capital expenditure at material subsidiary Aragen Biologics’ Bengaluru facility, and general corporate purposes to support expansion.Incorporated in 2000, Aragen provides contract discovery, pre-clinical research, development and manufacturing services for small molecules and biologics to global life sciences companies.It operates what it describes as the second-largest contract research solutions platform in India by scientific personnel among assessed peers and caters to customers working on new chemical entities and new biological entities across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, animal health, agrochemicals and specialty chemicals.Aragen employs 4,362 people, including 3,412 scientific personnel, of whom 479 hold PhDs. Citing an F&S Report, the company said it had the highest PhD-to-scientific personnel ratio in the Indian CRDMO industry at 14.04% as of March 31, 2026.The company said it was the second CRDMO in India to offer biologics services through an acquisition in 2014 and has since expanded its capabilities to offer integrated “gene-to-GMP” solutions across the biologics CRDMO value chain.Its biologics CRDMO platform is supported by an integrated US–India delivery model combining cell line development and early-stage research in the United States with cost-efficient development and manufacturing in India.The company said it served 591 customers globally in fiscal 2026 across the United States, Europe, Japan, India and other Asia-Pacific markets, including 16 of the top 20 big pharma companies as of March 31, 2026.For financial year 2025-26, the company’s net profit stood at around Rs 257.6 crore on revenue from operations of ₹2,178.4 crore.Axis Capital, Citigroup Global Markets India, Goldman Sachs (India) Securities and JM Financial are the book-running lead managers to the issue.
