Work from a park: CMC plans 300 Wi-Fi-enabled workspaces in Cyberabad

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has rolled out a series of initiatives to improve urban amenities, bring greater transparency to civic works, promote sustainable mobility, strengthen financial stability and enhance child-friendly infrastructure and waste management.A key initiative is the development of 300 new parks across Cyberabad this year. Select parks will also feature dedicated workspaces with free Wi-Fi, power outlets, CCTV cameras and seating, allowing residents to work amid green surroundings rather than in conventional offices or cafes. The ‘work from park’ concept is being planned at Madhava Hills Colony in Masjid Banda, under the Serilingampally zone, where a 1.5-acre park has been identified. About 700 square yards will be earmarked for the workspace. Another location in Madhapur, under the Kukatpally zone, has also been identified, with designs already prepared. The proposed facilities will include tiered seating, benches, a walking track and a coffee and snacks kiosk. The initiative is aimed at freelancers, students, startup teams and remote workers, while encouraging greater use of public green spaces. In a move to improve accountability, CMC plans to install standardised information boards at all civic work sites. The boards will carry details such as the name and estimated cost of the project, executing agency and its contact details, the concerned CMC officer’s phone number, and the commencement and completion dates. Each board will also feature a QR code linked to the CureOne app, allowing residents to lodge complaints, share feedback and flag quality-related issues by scanning it. The initiative is expected to help citizens track public expenditure, identify contractors and monitor the progress and timelines of civic projects.
