Debate in Parl, not on social media: Kishan to Rahul | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open debate, telling him that Parliament was the forum for debate and not social media.Rahul had challenged Modi to an open debate and urged BJP leaders, including Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Yogi Adityanath, to persuade the PM to accept his proposal. He said Modi could choose the venue and judge for the debate.Responding to Rahul’s post on X, Kishan invoked Union home minister Amit Shah’s proposal for a special Parliament session to debate Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and electronic voting machines (EVMs).Shah had made this proposal during his recent visit to Hyderabad, where he challenged Rahul to participate in a debate on SIR and EVMs.Kishan accused Rahul of running away abroad whenever Parliament was in session and Modi was speaking. He said democracy demanded courage to listen, engage and answer rather than issue challenges on social media. He also accused Rahul of seeking validation through Twitter polls after electoral defeats and attempting to create political anarchy by questioning democratic institutions.“Don’t just demand a debate. Show up for one,” Kishan said in his post, adding that the winter session was approaching.
