Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday pressed the Centre to fast-track a series of key railway and high-speed rail projects in Telangana, while making it clear that the state would begin land acquisition for the proposed bullet train corridors only after the Centre finalises their alignments.During a meeting with railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi, the chief minister sought early approvals for pending railway lines, the proposed Regional Ring Rail project along the Regional Ring Road, and a mega freight maintenance depot at Anantaram in Mahabubabad district.

Accompanied by Congress MPs from Telangana, Revanth reviewed the status of the proposed Hyderabad-Pune, Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed rail corridors. He informed the Union minister that the state govt had examined the Centre’s proposals and submitted revised suggestions on the alignments.“The Telangana govt has not yet initiated any land acquisition process for these three corridors. The land acquisition will commence only after the central govt approves the alignment,” CM Revanth clarified to the railway minister and urged that the alignment process be completed at the earliest. The meeting also focused on securing approval for key railway infrastructure projects, including the proposed 130-km Vikarabad-Krishna railway line.Highlighting the economic potential of the region, Revanth informed Vaishnaw that large limestone deposits had been identified near Tekalkode village in Vikarabad district and that the state govt planned to develop the area as a cement and textile hub.The chief minister also emphasised the need for a Regional Ring Rail corridor alongside the 360-km Regional Ring Road around Hyderabad, saying the project would improve connectivity and generate significant employment opportunities. He sought immediate approval for several proposed railway lines, including Dornakal-Gadwal, Kalwakurthy-Macherla, Kacheguda-Jaggayyapeta (250 km), Patancheru-Adilabad (320 km), Bodhan-Latur (175 km), and the 8-km Akannapet bypass line.Revanth also urged the Centre to clear the proposed mega coaching and freight maintenance depot at Anantaram, a project identified by South Central Railway as a major rail infrastructure facility. He informed the railway minister that the Telangana govt had already agreed to hand over 409 acres of land required for the depot and requested that approvals be granted at the earliest. The chief minister said early clearances for the pending railway and high-speed rail projects would significantly improve connectivity, industrial growth and logistics infrastructure across Telangana.
