BRS govt laid legal groundwork for Miyapur verdict: Harish Rao
Revanth taking credit for BRS efforts: Harish

Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao on Friday said the BRS govt had initiated legal proceedings to protect the 550 acres of Miyapur land by engaging a senior Supreme Court advocate, contradicting chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s claims.Criticising the CM’s remarks on the Supreme Court judgment concerning the Miyapur land, Harish Rao alleged that the Congress govt was attempting to sell the valuable property. He said the govt under former CM K Chandrashekar Rao had taken a firm stand to ensure that the strategically located land remained under govt ownership and had safeguarded it through a prolonged legal battle. In a statement, Harish Rao alleged that the present govt’s real objective was to facilitate the sale of the land, which the CM had reportedly valued at more than ₹60,000 crore. He claimed that attempts were being made to discredit the previous BRS administration to justify the proposed disposal of the property. He said court records showed that legal proceedings in the Miyapur land dispute had begun in 2003 and that the matter was converted into a civil appeal in 2013. Senior advocate C S Vaidyanathan was appointed in 2015 to represent the state before the Supreme Court and argued the case on its behalf, he added.“The BRS govt pursued the case for nearly eight years, from 2015 to 2023, and submitted all relevant petitions, affidavits and supporting documents before the apex court. The legal groundwork laid during the BRS regime played a decisive role in securing the favourable judgment,” Harish Rao said.Referring to the Supreme Court’s observations, he said the Miyapur verdict drew upon legal principles established in the Trinity Infraventures case, in which the Telangana govt had secured a favourable ruling in June 2023. He contended that the legal arguments and findings in that case had laid the foundation for the final verdict concerning the Miyapur land.Harish Rao accused the CM of taking credit for a legal victory achieved through the efforts of the previous govt. He maintained that Revanth Reddy’s claims during his media interaction were contrary to the facts available in the Supreme Court records.
