NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Rajnath Singh witnessed the Indian Air Force’s aerial display at the ‘Wings over Ganges’ event in Varanasi on October 25, as the city hosted the 94th Indian Air Force Day celebrations. The display featured the IAF’s LCA Tejas, Sukhoi-30MKI, Rafale and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, alongside the Sarang Helicopter Display Team. Aircraft from the Indian Navy and the Army also participated, showcasing coordination among the three services.Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel and Chief minister Yogi Adityanath were also present at the event. The event came amid the IAF’s emphasis on jointness and integration as the armed forces prepare for future multi-domain conflicts. IAF chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh has said the three services would need to operate more closely and that theatreisation should focus on employing air power effectively within an integrated structure.“We are not viewing theaterisation as an exercise to permanently divide fighter assets geographically,” Singh told news agency PTI. He said future conflicts would be multi-domain by nature and require closer coordination among the three services.
