Kin mourn Hyderabad man killed in Riyadh; injured kids stable | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: As the family of Mohammed Yousuf Ali grapples with his death in the incident at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, his relatives in Mehdipatnam are holding on to hope as his three children recover from their injuries. Yousuf was travelling for Umrah with his wife Sameera, their children Amaan (18), Wasey (16), and Maryam (11), and his aunt, Atiya Sultana, when a projectile struck the airport premises. Debris from the impact reportedly fell on Yosuf, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.“The condition of all three children is now stable, but they have been advised to remain under observation for another three weeks,” Yousuf’s relative Mohammed Aleem told TOI. Amaan underwent surgery on both kneecaps, while Wasey’s little finger was amputated. The family clarified that three of Wasey’s toes had not been amputated, as reported earlier in the media. The youngest, Maryam, underwent surgery for injuries to her back caused by glass fragments and is now safe, the family said.In one of the family’s most difficult moments, Maryam asked her relatives whether her father was alive. They eventually told her that Yousuf had passed away and was in ‘Jannat’. Meanwhile, AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain, who visited the family’s residence, said, “The response from the police, the Indian consulate and the MEA was very prompt. I assure the family that we will support the children’s education once they returned to India.”Relatives said Yousuf regularly travelled for Umrah but had decided to take his family along this time, ahead of the Dussehra vacation at the children’s school. Remembering him as a calm and peace-loving person, relatives said Yousuf was well-liked and that people made it a point to visit him whenever he was in India. He had been working from home for the past few months and had recently bought a house in Hyderabad, a milestone his father was proud of. The family has arranged for Yousuf’s final prayers at 4.15 pm on Tuesday at their home in Mehdipatnam, relatives said.
