Hyderabad: When M Srikanth, a native of Nalgonda district, was pursuing his BEd at Osmania University in 2013, he actively participated in the Telangana agitation and faced lathi charges. Thirteen years later, he donned the khaki uniform as one of the 112 probationary deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) who took part in the passing-out parade held at the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy on Monday.Having lost his parents and grandparents while he was still in college, Srikanth received support from his younger brother and an orphanage. “My younger brother Krishnakanth, a police constable, supported me financially to complete my MSc in Chemistry. Later, a Nalgonda-based orphanage helped fund my coaching for various govt examinations,” Srikanth told TOI.Through sheer determination, he secured three govt jobs — in railways, forest department and panchayat raj department. “I worked in the panchayat raj department after clearing the Group-IV examination. After clearing the Group-I examination conducted by the TGPSC, I was selected as a DSP. It had been my dream since the days I participated in the Telangana agitation,” he said.Neha Agarwal, an assistant professor at NALSAR University of Law, has also joined the Telangana police as a DSP. “I completed my LLM at NALSAR.
