NEW DELHI: Former West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee pasted a band-aid over her mouth as a mark of protest before being detained from South Avenue in Delhi along with party leaders Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen and other members.CPM leaders were also detained during the demonstration, PTI reported.Banerjee, who staged a dharna at a bus stand in Delhi’s South Avenue, said the situation appeared to be “bigger than Emergency”.Delhi Police continued to detain protesters, citing the lack of permission for the demonstration. Security was tightened at multiple locations across the national capital as CJP activists remained firm on their call to protest against the Election Commission over alleged voter disenfranchisement. Entry points to Delhi were placed under heightened security, while 46 Metro stations remained closed.Earlier, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and his associates were detained at Delhi airport as they deboarded their flight from Mumbai, where Dipke had been travelling to participate in the protest.
