Rahul undermining constitutional bodies: Kishan | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday accused Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi of undermining constitutional institutions whenever their decisions or electoral outcomes went against the party. He alleged that they questioned the credibility of bodies such as ECI, the judiciary and CAG for political gains. In a statement, Kishan Reddy said Congress had failed to respect people’s verdict and resorted to allegations against constitutional institutions after electoral defeats. He said ECI’s responsibility was to conduct free and fair elections, not to ensure victory for any political party.Referring to Supreme Court verdicts and the CAG report on the Rafale deal, he alleged that Rahul Gandhi questioned the credibility of institutions when their findings did not support his political arguments. He also accused Congress of targeting premier educational institutions, including IITs and central universities, and making statements abroad that, he claimed, had damaged India’s reputation. He cited Rahul Gandhi’s 2013 protest against an ordinance brought by the then UPA govt, alleging that the move disrespected former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He also referred to Congress’ treatment of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. The Union minister said constitutional institutions were established to function independently of individual leaders and political families. He accused Rahul Gandhi of failing to accept electoral defeats and urged him to focus on winning public support instead of questioning institutions. He said democracy required political parties to respect people’s mandate even when it went against them. He added that India’s democratic and constitutional institutions would continue to function irrespective of individual leaders or political parties.
