BRS indulging in propaganda, says Komatireddy

Hyderabad: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Friday mounted a sharp attack on the opposition BRS and BJP, accusing their leaders of taking pleasure even during public distress caused by widespread drought-like conditions.Addressing reporters at Indira Bhavan in Nalgonda, Komatireddy Venkat blamed the global impact of El Nino and an increased reliance on agricultural borewells for triggering a sharp spike in Telangana’s power demand, which has now touched nearly 20,000 MW.He dismissed the previous BRS govt’s claims of delivering uninterrupted free electricity as false propaganda. “We are not making false promises like the previous BRS govt did regarding a Dalit chief minister or 24-hour power supply. We are placing the facts before the people,” Komatireddy said, adding that the Revanth Reddy-led Congress govt remains committed to ensuring round-the-clock quality power despite climate challenges and rising demand. He added that the state is leveraging all available resources, including support from Coal India, to sustain grid stability. He also levelled corruption allegations against BRS working president KT Rama Rao, questioning how someone who worked in the United States for five years could acquire high-value commercial properties and farmhouses.“I advise the BRS leadership to abandon their star-hotel and farmhouse culture, liquidate their illegally acquired properties, and return to public service as ordinary citizens,” the minister said.He challenged BRS leaders, including K Chandrashekar Rao, KT Rama Rao, and T Harish Rao, to visit Nalgonda to inspect the implementation of the housing programme firsthand.Exuding confidence ahead of upcoming political contests, Komatireddy asserted that Congress would secure victories in the two Graduate MLC constituencies and the Khairatabad assembly bypoll, claiming that the party would retain power in the state in the next assembly elections too.
