Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery and Engineering Limited (APHMEL), a subsidiary of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), has registered a record net profit of ₹23.3 crore in 2025-26, helping the company achieve a cumulative net profit of ₹34.2 crore over the last three years.Once on the verge of closure with accumulated losses of about ₹21 crore, APHMEL has undergone a remarkable turnaround under Singareni’s management. The company has now accumulated profits of ₹60.8 crore since coming under SCCL’s control.According to SCCL, APHMEL posted profits of over ₹1 crore in 2023-24, ₹9.9 crore in 2024-25, and a record ₹23.3 crore in 2025-26, marking its highest-ever annual profit in its 50-year history.The company attributed its recent growth to expansion initiatives taken up after the Praja Palana govt assumed office in Dec 2023. Efforts were launched to not only strengthen Singareni but also transform APHMEL into a national-level heavy engineering enterprise.A major push came from deputy CM and energy minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who visited the APHMEL plant at Kondapalli last year and encouraged the company to expand beyond the Telugu states, diversify its product range and secure orders from across the country, SCCL said.As part of efforts to reduce operational expenses, the company has also established a 300-kW solar power plant at its premises. The project is expected to generate about 1,200 units of power daily and save nearly ₹2 lakh per month in electricity costs.
