3 in custody for dumping food waste at worship site | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Madannapet when food waste wrapped in a plastic bag was dumped by a resident of a govt double bedroom house site close to food vessels at a worship place set up in the housing complex on Sunday evening. Following the incident, members of a community staged a rasta roko near the site demanding the arrest of the accused. Police have taken three persons from the same housing complex into custody.According to police, an annadanam (food donation) programme was held by organisers of a worship place at the govt double bedroom house site at Madannapet. At 3 pm, when the programme was happening, organisers noticed a polythene bag containing food waste lying next to the food vessels. During the preliminary probe, police found out that a labourer who is a resident of a flat in a double bedroom house hurled the bag containing food waste below. “We have taken three persons, including a man and two women, into custody for throwing food items. We are questioning them and stringent legal action will be initiated,” Charminar DCP Kiran Prabhakar Khare said.Meanwhile, a political party’s local supporters staged a rasta roko protest demanding the arrest of the accused. “We have received a complaint from a local group that had taken objection to the incident near the annadanam event. We will initiate appropriate legal action,” Madannapet inspector K Chandrasekhar said.
